Captain Granitic's Adventure Blog

Captain Granitic's Adventure Blog: "have activism protecting access to remote, harsh wilderness environments?  Who cares, can't we just let 'em drill baby drill?  I mean, who does that really affect?  Isn't that a solution for getting away from OPEC oil/Canadian wood/Chinese minerals/Japanese video games?

In a word, No.  It's important that we protect our National Parks not to keep people out; it's important that we let people in.  It's the American way.  We let people in, they experience the beauty, the majesty, they learn to care and then they ACT.  They learn to put themselves in the shoes of the rancher, the rafting guide, the rural family who treasures the area as if they owned it.  Indeed, we all do"
